REFLECTIONS — A Journey Back to Seeing

Thokozani Badimo Child

The word reflect simply means to show an image of.

It sounds simple, almost obvious… until Spirit reminds you that reflection goes far deeper than what the eye captures.

A picture showing reflection.
A picture showing reflection.

Most times, when we hear the word reflection, we think of a mirror 🪞.

A tool we all use at some point in our day — checking our hair, adjusting our clothes, adding lipstick, fixing smudged makeup.

But I find myself asking:

How many of us actually look to see?

How many of us pause long enough to see beyond the lipstick,

beyond the make-up,

beyond the person we present to the world?

A mirror shows the surface.

Reflection shows the truth.

And truth, Badimo Child, is not always pretty.

But it is always necessary.

Real reflection is not about how we appear to the world.

It’s about facing the parts of ourselves we rush past…

The emotions we silence,

The habits we justify,

The wounds we decorate,

The patterns we pretend not to see.

Reflection asks you to stand before your own spirit —

Not to criticize,

Not to judge,

But to witness.

To witness your evolution.

To witness your cycles.

To witness the ways you’ve shifted, avoided, grown, or resisted growth.

Because spiritual independence begins with self-honesty.

And self-honesty begins with reflection.

This new space — these monthly blog reflections — are an invitation:

To pause.

To see.

To understand.

And to return to yourself with softness and truth.

May this December be your mirror.

May it reveal truth without harshness,

growth without perfection,

and wisdom without fear.

Here’s to seeing yourself clearly,

honouring how far you’ve come,

and preparing your spirit for what you are stepping into.

This is the season of returning to yourself.

This is the season of reflection.

So as I have shared my 2025 reflections with you, I invite you to join me in your own space —

quietly, gently, intentionally.

Sit with your year.

Sit with your spirit.

Sit with the story you lived in 2025.

Not just the achievements or the failures,

but the movements, the emotions, the growth, the becoming.

Because before we enter 2026, we must understand the version of ourselves that arrives at the door.
